Professor Bruns has research and teaching interests in Management Control Systems and Performance Measurement; Financial Reporting and Analysis, especially Intangible Assets and Impairment; and Management Accounting and Decision-Making.

Professor Bruns has done consulting and executive development work for numerous companies since 1970, and currently is working with Harvard Business School Publishing, Watertown, Massachusetts, and an automobile rental company that wishes to remain anonymous.
Professional Services
Professor Bruns served as book review editor of The Accounting Review and as a member of the editorial board for Advances in Management Accounting and as an ad hoc reviewer for other professional journals.
