BSIB Curriculum

Students in the BSIB program complete in-depth study of international business, take courses in the principal fields of business, and choose a concentration in a functional area of business. BSIB students also choose a language program track, which determines the country where they will spend their expatriate year.

Freshman Core:

• ENGL1111 or 1102: College Writing (fulfills first year writing requirement)
• MATH1231: Calculus for Business (fulfills analytical math level 1)
• ECON1115: Principles of Macroeconomics (social science core)
• ECON1116: Principles of Microeconomics
• BUSN1101: Sustaining Business in the New Economy
• BUSN1102: Personal Skills Development for Business (1 credit)

NU Core:

• (1) Arts/Humanities level 1
• (1) Science/Technology level 1
• (1) Level 2 elective (2000 or above outside major)
• ENGL3301 or 3304: Advanced Writing for the Disciplines

Language:

Students are required to take up to 6 courses in their chosen language, depending on how much prior instruction they've had. Students are tested when they enter the program and are placed at the appropriate level.

Concentrations

Students must choose one concentration from the following seven areas, each of which requires four courses:
Accounting
Entrepreneurship
Finance and Insurance
Management
Management Information Systems
Marketing
Supply Chain Management 

Electives

Students begin with up to three open elective courses. The actual number of electives that students take depends on the amount of transfer and Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate credit they have. Open electives may be used for custom degree options such as a second concentration, a dual degree, a minor, or any course or set of courses of interest.
*Only students who matriculate to CBA as freshmen will take BUSN1101. Internal and external transfers will replace this course with a business elective.

• BUSN1103: Professional Development for Co-op
• COOP3945: (2) six-month co-op experiences: 1 domestic and 1 in host country during expatriate year
