Research and Teaching Interests

Product development processes and tools that foster improved metrics such as time-to-market and commercialization success rates. Innovation, technology management, and product realization within early-stage companies. Design strategy and industrial design. Product platforms and product families. Manufacturing sourcing and cost modeling including outsourcing and offshoring.

CBA Strategic Research Initiative Award, 2011, $20,000.

Expertise

Tucker has held numerous product development and manufacturing positions at large corporations, including Ford Motor Company and Visteon Corporation. While at Wharton, Tucker got the bug to start his own company, and shortly thereafter he co-founded the Innovation Factory, where he headed product development and operations. After leaving the Innovation Factory, he began FlashPoint Development, leading the design effort for numerous consumer and technical projects. Tucker is an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University's College of Business and School of Technological Entrepreneurship, specializing in product development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Industry and Academic Experience

Professor Marion is the founder of Flashpoint Development Inc., where he has been since 2004. It is a boutique product development consulting firm. Prior to that he served as Co-founder and Chief Development Officer of Innovation Factory Inc. and New Model Project Manager at Visteon Corporation. Both positions focused on new product development in the technology sector.
