    The Fall semester has been a busy one. Student interest in accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels remains strong, and we continue to recruit new faculty to meet the growing demands for our classes.Our faculty members continue to publish in excellent journals and represent the university on the editorial boards of some of the leading academic journals in accounting.

    CFO Magazine and CIO Magazine published a story asking the basic question, “Should CFOs Get on-Board?” The articles where based on Professor Udi Hoitash and his colleagues’ recent research where they examined this question and the resultant benefits and costs.

    On Thursday, December 1, over 80 business students attended the Northeastern University Internal Audit Student Night, co-hosted by the Northeastern University Accounting Department and the Greater Boston Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

    Accounting Undergraduate Student, George Karmelich

    Imagine yourself on a tropical island from January until May. Imagine working for a large international company on this tropical island.  George Karmelich (2012) did just that when he worked for Deloitte and Touche, LLP in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

    Accounting Undergraduate Student, Michael Sonnendecker

    Accounting co-op experiences revolve around CPA firms and large corporations. For the select few, they also include sporting businesses. Accounting concentrator, Michael Sonnendecker (2013), worked for the Boston Red Sox.

    New Accounting Faculty, Ronen Gal-or

    Ronen Gal-Or joins the Accounting group as an Assistant Professor. Prior to his arrival at Northeastern, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Before that, Ronen spent some time with Ernst & Young in Pittsburgh, PA as a senior auditor.

    New Accounting Faculty, Russ O'Haver

    Russ O’Haver joins the Accounting group as a Senior Academic Specialist after spending the better part of the past twenty-five years at Ernst & Young New York. He was a Partner in the International Tax practice, specifically starting and building an eighty person Transfer Pricing practice to assist large multinationals.

    New Accounting Faculty, Colin Reid

    Colin Reid joins the Accounting group as an Assistant Professor. Prior to his arrival at Northeastern, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. Prior to that, he worked as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas.
